Project Description

Kirei, a provider of innovative eco-friendly design materials for commercial interiors, is pleased to announce the launch of New Horizons, a collection of five new EchoPanel acoustic products featuring simple lines, for spaces that rule. The new products—EchoEdge, EchoLine45, EchoLine Subway, EchoEmboss, and EchoTile Ascent—were designed and curated in collaboration with distinguished Industrial Designer, Michael DiTullo. Signifying the products’ launch into the North America market, the celebrated series nods to a new horizon of acoustic design—one that facilitates healthier interior environments that are visually compelling and easy for designers and architects to specify.

“The New Horizons collection exemplifies Kirei’s optimism towards the future of the built environment, including the collective resilience of the architecture and design industry,” says John Stein, President, Kirei. “‘Kirei’ means beauty in Japanese, and we believe that change is beautiful. We’re committed to providing design solutions that dramatically improve occupant health and happiness, for sustainable interior environments that look as good as they sound.”

New Horizons is defined by clean lines and simple, minimalist textures. The collection joins the existing suite of celebrated EchoPanel products, providing architects and designers with a seemingly endless array of customizable, eco-friendly acoustic solutions.

“Featuring radically linear lines, New Horizons’ consistent patterning creates a dynamic sightline while simultaneously balancing the acoustic performance of the interior environment at-hand,” says Michael DiTullo, Industrial Designer and Curator. “Kirei is proof that good design is simultaneously functional, beautiful, and sustainable. I am delighted to work alongside the Kirei team in upholding this future-forward and design-centric vision for the built environment, and the exciting acoustic design opportunities of the future.”

As an acoustic design material that supports green design, Kirei EchoPanel—originally launched in the North American market in 2013—is a decorative, acoustically absorbent panel with a felt-like finish, offering sound absorption with unbeatable aesthetics in 31 colorways. Made from 100% PET plastic and containing at least 60% post-consumer content, the entire EchoPanel line includes wall panels, ceiling systems, tiles, and partitions, helping address the acoustic needs of commercial environments.

The complete New Horizons EchoPanel collection consists of:

EchoEdge: Featuring three standard styles (Level, Wave, and Pulse), with additional customization available, EchoEdge provides radical sound-absorbing feature walls through the modular fin system. Designed to tune out the noise and turn up the visual dynamism, EchoEdge delivers a tactile wall experience ideal for spaces in need of low profile, high-absorption acoustic design.

EchoLine 45: A new angle on love, EchoLine 45 energizes spaces with dynamic lines that are ‘going places’. EchoLine 45’s classic v-cut grooves—placed at 45 degree angles—capture eyes and sound waves alike. Available in four standard widths (.5, 1, 2, and 4 inches), the simple, classic angles are scalable for any sized space, from small reception areas to large public spaces.

EchoEmboss: Available in three styles, EchoEmboss embraces the trend of tactile surfaces and three-dimensional textures. The floor-to-ceiling panels—developed by Kirei manufacturing partner Woven Image—create visual depth through the subtle play of light and shadow. Patterns include the linear Zen, the origami-inspired Ion, and the dramatic, diamond-like Gem.

EchoTile Ascent: The peaked shapes of EchoTile Ascent drape large spaces in linear allure. The soft, corrugated design and slight reveal create a consistent, dimensional look. Similarly, the hollow, thermo-formed tiles can achieve an NRC of up to .90 to deliver upscale acoustics disguised as a sophisticated design statement.

Not only can acoustic-focused products provide end-users with noise-management solutions that make for a balanced, happy environment, but they can also easily add a sophisticated architectural element to any design scheme. Similarly, the New Horizon collection pairs well with Kirei’s existing product lines, including the AKUART collection of infinitely customizable acoustic canvases. With the addition of New Horizons, Kirei’s broad variety of customizable acoustic design products offers specialized applications that cater to any commercial project’s unique acoustic and aesthetic requirements.
