makelike is a Portland, Oregon-based multi-disciplinary design collective. Our studio generates art direction, graphic design, pattern design and illustration for publishing, editorial, marketing, retail, packaging, exhibition, product development and identity/brand applications.
We have worked on special projects for corporate giants, agencies, non-profits, small businesses and individuals alike. Some clients come to us with a solid plan, others just come. We have built magazines from the ground up, we have traveled to tiny micro islands to shoot soon-to-be-famous sports stars, we have written the words that give life to an idea, we have wallpapered walls and stapled telephone poles, we have re-imagined brands – both young and old, near and far, big and small. We are able to do this because we are a nimble organism. When the project needs only a hand and a pencil we tap into the best of emerging talent and say, “draw kid, draw.” When we need a film crew, we don’t cast our net into the big sea of cameramen and grips, we call the guy who can develop Super 8 in the back of his van or shoot HD with an instinctive eye. When we are asked to procure the seemingly impossible we know just the producer to call. makelike is made up of few and many. We shapeshift for each project, culling the best talent from our fair city and beyond. We stay close to the core ideas from concept to completion. We collaborate, shake up, shout out, rough up, smooth over, simplify, complicate and sophisticate.
